Harrisburg City Council discussed plans to sell some of the school district's vacant buildings Thursday nights.
School recovery officer Gene Veno wants council to approve the sale of the former Hamilton Elementary and William Penn High School. He said that would prevent the properties from becoming tax exempt under the Keystone Opportunity Zone and instead would generate $500,000 in tax revenue for the city.
Veno said council seemed receptive to the idea.
A vote is expected next week.
