Holy Spirit Health System and Geisinger Health System announced Monday that they have agreed to explore ways in which the two health care organizations can work together.
In a joint news release, Holy Spirit and Geisinger said they have signed a letter of intent that enables each organization to investigate the opportunities to affiliate.
The approval process is expected to take six to nine months.
Holy Spirit Health System has more than 2,900 employees serving south central Pennsylvania. Holy Spirit Hospital is located in Camp Hill.
Geisinger, based in Danville, has more than 19,000 employees and serves more than 2.6 million residents throughout 44 counties in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
