PennDOT has closed the Route 283 West ramp to Route 741 near Lancaster in preparation for resurfacing.
The ramp was closed this morning for up to two weeks so that crews can apply a latex-modified concrete surface, PennDOT spokesman Mike Crochunis said.
Until then, a detour which follows Route 283 West, Route 722 and Route 283 East to Route 741 will be in place.
Overnight paving operations on Route 741 also will resume between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting.
The work is part of a $3.26 million project to rehabilitate five bridges and repair and resurface a two-mile section of Route 741 from Route 30 in East Hempfield Township to Route 283 in Manheim Township.
Crochunis said those who travel Route 283 and Route 741 should allow for extra time in their travel plans or seek an alternate route to avoid delays.
