Man, 52, found dead in early morning house fire

DUNCANNON, Pa. (WHTM) -

Crews responded to the scene of a deadly house fire in Penn Township, Perry County early Saturday morning.

Officials received reports of a fire around 4:25 a.m. at a duplex along the first block of Valley Street.

Authorities said the fire began on the first floor; crews learned from neighbors that a man was still inside the home. According to officials, the victim was found dead upstairs.

The fire was contained by 5:15 a.m.

The coroner has since identified the victim as 52-year-old John Sieger, Jr.

The State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the incident, though no foul play is suspected. He told abc27 there were no working smoke alarms inside the home.

Authorities reported heat and smoke damage throughout the duplex. Four people were temporarily displaced.

Officials said a cat died in the fire as well.
