Retired athlete takes new twist with Auntie Anne's

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Retired NBA player Mark Blount refuses to be a statistic.

Blount, who played 11 seasons that included stops in Boston and Miami, knows many athletes become broke after failed business ventures.

He is partnering with Auntie Anne's Incorporated and he will open two stores near his home in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Blount has already hired his management staff and he will rely on support from Auntie Anne's corporate office.

He spent several days in training, learning how to roll pretzel dough and do other tasks that his employees will perform on a daily basis.

Blount, now 37, spent nine months doing his due diligence on the Auntie Anne's opportunity before deciding to move forward.

He said other athletes need to take their time and research business ventures.

He expects to open his stores within the next two months.
