Police and the owner of a reptile sanctuary are looking for the owner of a 10-foot snake that turned up in York County.
Southwestern Regional police said the reticulated python was found Tuesday morning by a PennDOT employee along W. College Avenue in North Codorus Township, near the West Manchester Township line.
It took police about 45 minutes to capture the snake, police said.
Officers had been getting reports from people who had seen the python over the last 2-3 weeks.
It was captured unharmed and transferred to the Forgotten Friend sanctuary in Lancaster County.
Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend said the sanctuary would like to reunite the snake with its owner.
If someone intentionally released the snake, however, they could face criminal charges.
