A Shippensburg police officer was treated at a hospital and released after she was punched and kicked by a borough woman early Wednesday.
Kathaleen Dennis, 38, punched the officer just below the throat and kicked her twice as she was being placed in custody, police said.
The officer sustained an injury to her hand.
Police said officers had been sent to Dennis's home in the 100 block of E. Orange Street for a noise complaint shortly before 1 a.m.
Dennis was standing on a second floor deck and yelling into a phone when officers arrived, then yelled and cursed at police and refused to hand over her identification, authorities said.
She eventually became agitated with the female officer and aggressively lunged at her, police said.
Dennis was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
Police said they charged a second woman, 28-year-old Denise Martin, for yelling at officers and refusing to stop.
Martin was charged with disorderly conduct and failing to update her address on her license, police said.
