Police: man, 21, took cash from fruit stand

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police have charged a 21-year-old after police say he took money from a cash register at a fruit stand in Lancaster County.

East Lampeter Township Police Department responded to the scene of a reported theft at Herr's Fruit Stand along the 2900 block of Lincoln Highway East on Wednesday at around 4 p.m.

According to officials, an unknown white man took an undetermined amount of cash from the register and fled the scene in a white Chevrolet Malibu.

Police located the vehicle on Horseshoe Road in Upper Leacock Township where Paul Leinhauser was identified as the suspected thief.

Authorities were able to recover the stolen money.

Leinhauser was charged for a similar theft at the Bluegate Produce Stand along the 2700 Lincoln Highway East on September 12.

The 21-year-old was charged with misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking. He taken for arraignment at Central Booking where he posted $1,000 bail.
