LU Defense Prepares for Richmond's Strauss

Posted:

Lynchburg - Saturday night's LU at Richmond game is the first in a two-game series, the Spiders will come to Lynchburg next season.

The Flames defense should get a strong test from redshirt junior quarterback Michael Strauss, who's averaging 290 yards a game and hitting just under 65 percent of his throws.  Strauss has six TDs and just one interception in his first three games.  His favorite target has been Salem native Stephen Barnette.  Disrupting Strauss in some fashion will be a priority for LU's defense.

Turner Gill, LIBERTY FLAMES HEAD COACH, said "Whether it's through pressure or whether it's for a different scheme that we may put up against him so that he can have a post-read and a pre-read as he goes through his progressions as far as throwing the football.  So we've got our hands full but I feel very good about our defense.  Our defense has played extremely well and I anticipate them to play well again."

Scott Hyland, FLAMES SENIOR LINEBACKER, said "They have some good receivers, they have some good talent on the outside.  So it'll definitely be a good test for our db's, I think overall it's going to be a good test for our defense."
