DALLASTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -

A former teacher at Dallastown Area Middle School has been arrested on sexual abuse charges involving a student.

Christopher John Boyer, 28, of Red Lion, had sexual contact with the girl in the school as well as on school-related trips beginning when she was 13 years old, York Area Regional police said.

Police allege the incidents began in 2009 when Boyer was a seventh grade math teacher and the girl was one of his students, and continued until 2013 when Boyer was no longer the girl's teacher.

He has not been employed by the Dallastown Area School District since the end of the last school year.

Boyer was charged Wednesday with institutional sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors, sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography, and unlawful contact with a minor.

He was later released on $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 22.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to call York Area Regional police at 717-741-1259.
