Danville, VA - Danville Police are hoping for a new addition to their department, trying to get iPads for all of their investigators.
Police say the addition would greatly enhance their effectiveness in the field. Investigators would use the iPads for taking statements, collecting videos, immediately sending photographs of the scene, and other purposes. The department wants to get 19 of them, one for each investigator.
Right now, officers are using their personal iPads on occasion but they say department owned ones would be more effective.
"They'll be able to spend more time actually out on the field without having to depend on laptop computers or desktop computers to do their job," said Cpt. Dennis Haley, Danville Police Department.
Right now they are just working on funding. They hope to have them by the end of the year.
