Plans for a large warehouse in Fairview Township, York County have been withdrawn - at least for now.
Goodman Birtcher withdrew its conditional use application to build a one-million-square-foot warehouse off the Lewisberry Road exit of Interstate 83.
At 45 feet, the building would have been 20 feet too high for safe approaches to Capital City Airport.
The plan passed township regulations, but upset locals who feared their property values would suffer from pollution and increased truck traffic.
Those residents call this a temporary victory.
"Now I'm very grateful for the airport," said Jane Pomerantz, a member of Concerned Residents of Fairview Township.
The developer plans to modify and resubmit a plan.
Supporters said the warehouse would bring jobs and increased tax revenue to the township.
