Danville, VA- The Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce hosted the 22nd annual Ed Steffey Education Golf Tournament Friday in order to help raise money for local schools.
As many as 31 teams played the Goodyear Golf Course to raise money for teacher creativity grants in Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Caswell County, North Carolina.
The tournament is a memoir of Ed Steffey, a plant manager of Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Danvillle.
"He was into education. We have eight daughters and we never thought about them not going to school; it was just where they were going to go to school. Education was number one thing in our household," said Sherry Steffey Crenshaw.
The chamber reported that they will raise between $12,000 and $20,000 at the tournament.
