LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP/ABC 13) -- Darrin Peterson had two touchdown receptions as six different Liberty players reached the end zone in a 73-7 rout of Kentucky Wesleyan.

LU travels to Old Dominion, an FCS playoff team from a year ago, next week and LU coaches and players wanted to 'tighten the bolts' against Kentucky Wesleyan. They did with ease. Many starters were able to watch from the sidelines in the second half.

Peterson began an onslaught of 45 first-half points for Liberty (3-2) by hauling in a 55-yard touchdown pass from Josh Woodrum on the first play from scrimmage. Peterson later caught a 21-yard score from Woodrum to give the Flames a 24-7 lead over Kentucky Wesleyan (0-4) by the end of the opening quarter.

Liberty had four rushing touchdowns, with two apiece coming from D.J. Abnar and Austin Kaigler and one from Desmond Rice. Rice also scored on a 23-yard screen pass.

The Flames' defense and special teams got on the scoreboard as well. Andrew Jauch blocked a punt and returned the ball 30 yards for a touchdown in the first and Gary Sampson had a 31-yard interception return for a score in the second.

LCA product Desmond Rice scored two touchdowns for the Flames.

On a night in which the defense and special teams supplied much of the scoring, quarterback Josh Woodrum was 6 of 11 passing for 114 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
