Woman injured while taking purse back from thief

A 44-year-old Lebanon woman was injured when she pulled her stolen purse from a vehicle as the thief drove away, according to city police.

The woman fell to the ground and injured her knee in the parking lot of the Weis Market at 800 S. 12th Street Friday night, police said.

The woman told officers she was walking to her vehicle when a male approached her from behind and grabbed her purse.

He fled into a vehicle but the woman followed him, reached into the vehicle and pulled her purse out while he drove away, police said.

She retrieved her purse, but her wallet fell into the vehicle during the struggle.

The suspect was described as a skinny white male wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt and plaid shorts.
