Robber in devil disguise cast out with no cash

MANCHESTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Perhaps it was too early for Halloween.

Or maybe it was hard to take anyone seriously in that disguise.

But when a would-be robber tried to hold up a York County convenience store while wearing a devil costume Sunday night, things just didn't go his way.

Surveillance video released by police Monday shows the robber waving a handgun as he motioned for a clerk to fill his plastic shopping bag with cash from the register.

The clerk at the J&A Shoppette in Newberry Township refused to give up anything however, and the would-be robber eventually walked out of the store at 3100 York Haven Road empty-handed and appearing frustrated.

Authorities are still looking for the gun-toting crook. He was seen walking around the outside of the building just before the attempted robbery and was described as a younger aged male, approximately 5'8''-5'10'' tall and 140-160 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Newberry Township police at 717-938-2608.
