LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 70-year-old Lebanon man has been jailed for kidnapping a 9-year-old girl from her home Monday night.

Willis Christ dragged the girl out of her house in the 800 block of Walnut Street and took her to a nearby alley, where she was able to break free and escape, city police said.

She was not injured.

Lebanon Police Chief Daniel Wright said Christ apparently entered the home through an unlocked side door around 8:30 p.m. while the girl was getting ready for bed and her mother was upstairs.

He grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth so she could not make any noise, police said.

Christ was located a few blocks from the scene and positively identified as the offender, police said.

Investigators said he was not known to the girl or her family.

In addition to kidnapping, Christ was charged with burglary, simple assault and harassment.

He was arraigned and placed in the Lebanon County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 10.
