Update: Christiansburg Police Find Infant Remains in Home, Mother Denied Having Child
Update 4:15 p.m.:
Christiansburg, VA - Christiansburg police say they found a baby's remains in a closet wrapped in a bag. The baby's mother originally denied even having a child.
This all came to the attention of the Christiansburg Police Department on Friday after getting a call from LewisGale Montgomery about a woman complaining of fatigue and blood loss. That call led to police executing a search warrant the following day at a home in the 100 Block of East Street.
Inside, police say they found the remains of a child wrapped in a bag and hidden in a closet.
Search warrants show a woman who lives at the address was found to still be carrying the placenta of a third trimester child, which was the source of her problem.
The woman, who neighbors say is in her early 20's, denied having a child in the first place. That's why the search warrant was requested.
Neighbors say they had no clue she was pregnant.
"We all were talking about it and everyone's like, 'No, she's not pregnant.' So no one knew she was pregnant. Everyone thought she wasn't pregnant," said Amanda Griffith.
The Commonwealth's Attorney says the key question that needs to be answered is whether or not the child was born alive.
In the state of Virginia, one breath of air is what it takes for it to be homicide versus an illegal abortion. Once that's decided, it will decide what charges will be filed.

They say the woman denied recently giving birth even though there were physical signs that she had.
Police searched her home on East Street Saturday and say they found the decomposed remains of an infant wrapped in a bag in a closet.
The identity of the woman has not been released and no charges have been filed yet.
