Update: Two Injured in Danville Accident, Driver Facing Charges

Update 5 p.m.:

Danville, VA - A crash between a car and a moped sent two people to the hospital in Danville Wednesday.

Samuel Weaver, 74, was driving his moped on Monroe Street around 12:45 p.m. when police say he ran a stop sign at the intersection of Monroe and North Ridge Street.

Weaver collided with a car carrying two people.

Both Weaver and the car's driver were taken to Danville Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Weaver has been charged with failure to obey the stop sign.

Danville, VA – Two people were taken to the hospital after a car accident in Danville Wednesday afternoon.

The assistant fire chief with the Danville Fire Department says the accident happened on the corner of Monroe and North Ridge Streets at around 12:45 p.m.

He says the driver of a Honda Civic collided with a man riding a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the Civic also had some injuries and was also taken to the hospital with what rescuers believe are non-life threatening injuries.
