WEST YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Matthew Ott is 13 years old and has spent the past four years selling lemonade to raise money to help military families who are struggling financially.

He started the effort as a tribute to his mother who served in the Army and passed away when he was a baby.

Matthew was diagnosed with Constant Regional Pain Syndrome.  Doctors don't know much about this rare condition; it's described as one of the most painful long-term conditions scoring a 42 out of 50 on the McGill pain index.

He is in pain all day and night, but he is allowed to use a non-narcotic pain medications at night to help him get some sleep. He has been on crutches for seven weeks because the pain in his right ankle and foot is so severe, it prevents him from walking on his own.

Matthew and his father John are researching the next steps for treatment and recovery.
