A Cumberland County woman was arrested at a New Jersey supermarket after she and another woman were caught shoplifting and fled the store without an 8-month-old infant, according to police.
Cherry Hill police said 30-year-old Christine Frater of Carlisle and 24-year-old Kristi Kline of Wilmington, Del. were concealing merchandise in a shopping cart which contained Kline's baby boy when they were confronted by store security Sunday night.
The women fled the store, leaving the stolen merchandise and the baby behind, and were arrested in the store parking lot, police said.
Kline was jailed on charges of shoplifting, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic syringe and receiving stolen property.
Her infant son was transferred to the custody of a family member at police headquarters.
Frater was charged with shoplifting, possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and possession of stolen property.
She was released on complaint summonses pending court.
