UPPER DARBY, Pa. (WHTM) -

A York County man is headed to trial for killing his girlfriend's 7-month-old son at his parent's Delaware County home.

Ummad Rushdi, 30, of Windsor Township, was held for court during his preliminary hearing Monday.

Rushdi faces charges of homicide, kidnapping, concealing the whereabouts of a child, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse in the Aug. 4 killing of Hamza Ali.

Authorities say Rushdi and his girlfriend were visiting his parents in Upper Darby when he killed the infant by shaking him after the baby woke up crying and would not stop.

Police believe Rushdi then took the child from the home while the others were asleep and buried him somewhere.

Authorities said he has refused to tell anyone where he hid the body.

Police have searched for the baby's remains at the Windsor Township home where Rushdi lived with his girlfriend and her son.

They have also searched a wooded area along the Susquehanna River in Lancaster County.

According to court documents, the car Rushdi used for the trip to Delaware County, his brother's 2000 Lincoln Continental, was found stuck in the mud in Columbia after the kidnapping, and a child's car seat and a shovel were recovered from the trunk.

Rushdi remains in the Delaware County Prison without bail.

His formal arraignment was set for Nov. 6.
