Players suspended after football game brawl

Posted: Updated:
DUNCANNON, Pa. (WHTM) -

Mid Penn Conference officials took swift action following a brawl Friday between Susquenita and Steelton-Highspire football players.

Conference officials have imposed a double forfeit on both high schools, and players who were thrown out of the game at Susquenita's stadium in Duncannon will serve a one-game suspension.

Witnesses have said the fight started in the second quarter during a punt while Steel-High was up 25-0. Several players were ejected and the game was canceled after both teams were sent to their locker rooms.

Mid Penn officials met with representatives from both school districts Monday morning. They asked both districts to submit a written action plan for preventing another brawl from taking place.

Both school districts can appeal to the District 3 level.
