A Spring Grove man escaped injury this morning when his Ford Ranger pickup truck was struck by a York Rail Company train, police said.
John Brenneman tried to beat the train as he approached the rail crossing at the Route 116 and Ambau Road intersection in North Codorus Township, but realized at the last second he wasn't going to make it and hit the brakes, according to Southwestern Regional police.
Brenneman failed to stop in time and the front of his truck was clipped by the train as it passed, police said. His truck received moderate damage.
No damage was reported by York Rail.
