LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Lancaster County man will spend up to 25 years in prison for the beating death of his 4-month-old son.

Jesus Manuel LaSanta, 27, of Leola, was given 12-and-a-half to 25 years imprisonment, followed by 15 years of supervised probation, when he was sentenced Friday before Lancaster County President Judge Joseph Madenspacher.

LaSanta had pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and endangering the welfare of children on Aug. 22.

Prosecutors said LaSanta admitted to pulling the infant out of a play seat, beating the child against his chest, and violently forcing him onto a bed on January 13.

His son, Nazareth LaSanta, died three days later at a hospital.

An autopsy indicated the baby had suffered brain damage and cracked ribs.
