Liberty University's First Diver Competes

Lynchburg, VA-  Liberty University has a one-woman dive team.

Courtney Fox is a sophomore from Pennsylvania who fell in love with diving in high school. She now attends Liberty and competed for the first time at Virginia Tech last week.

A picture of her diving was retweeted by the NCAA to over a million followers last week.  Jake Shellenberger, the head swim coach at Liberty, says before Courtney, the team went into each competition short on points. And she's happy to help.

"It's just the feeling of flipping through the air and then you hit the water and it's just this calm. So it's a very focused sport and it gets your mind off everything, cause you isolate yourself while you're doing it and I don't know. It's just a whole lot of fun," said Fox.

For now she has to go to UVA three times a week to practice, but soon LU will have its own diving facility. Construction has started under the LU monogram and the facility should be finished in 2015.
