LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Tower City man was jailed on endangerment and drug charges for exposing a 2-year-old child to suspected heroin needles, Lebanon police said.

Ray Lucas, 27, appeared to be sleeping in a vehicle and not caring for the child when an officer found him Thursday night in the McDonald's parking lot at 1202 Maple Street, police said.

Lucas placed the child in the rear of the vehicle when the officer arrived, and during the investigation the officer noticed the child in the vehicle playing with two syringes, police said.

One of the syringes was uncapped and the needle was exposed and bent, and both contained a brown liquid believed to be heroin, police said.

Lucas was charged with endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arraigned and sent to the Lebanon County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail.

The child was examined at a hospital and released to other family members.
