Norfolk, VA - A Lynchburg native was killed early Wednesday morning while he was out jogging in the Norfolk area.
Police say Benjamin Kunkel, 25, was hit by a jeep while he was trying to cross an intersection. The driver of the jeep stopped and called 911 for help.
Kunkel was a 2006 Heritage High School graduate. He moved to Norfolk and was the Outreach and Event Coordinator at the Chesapeake Humane Society.
The director there, Lacy Kuller, says Kunkel was a great man.
"He had a great sense of humor. He was incredibly likeable, and I think that's why... because he was so caring and still had that sense of humor. he was so easy to get to know." said Kuller.
A celebration of life for Kunkel will be held this Saturday, October 19, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Lynchburg.
