CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

Funeral arrangements have been made for an Army Ranger from Carlisle who died in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Patrick C. Hawkins, 25, will be laid to rest Wednesday afternoon at Arlington National Cemetery.

Hawkins was one of four Americans killed Oct. 6 when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device, according to the Defense Department.

Military officials said he was moving to the aid of a wounded Ranger when he was killed.

He was serving his fourth deployment to Afghanistan.

Hawkins was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Purple Heart.

He is survived by a wife who lives in Kansas and his parents in Carlisle.
