Police have arrested a woman who allegedly was disguised as a man when she robbed two convenience stores in Lancaster County this week.

Laura A. Sousa, 26, of Warwick Township, was charged Friday for a heist at a Hess Express in Manheim Township and a holdup at a Turkey Hill in Ephrata Township, according to Ephrata and Manheim Township police.

Police said they also arrested 28-year-old James E. Oreilly, of Penn Township. He allegedly helped Sousa plan the crimes and drove the getaway car.

The Hess Express at 3180 Oregon Pike was robbed of cash and lottery tickets at gunpoint Tuesday evening by a robber initially described as a short, stocky, unshaven white male.

During Thursday night's robbery of the Turkey Hill at 3585 Rothsville Road, police said a female bandit wore makeup that resembled a beard. She motioned that she had a gun and fled with the same loot of cash and lottery tickets.

Sousa was identified as the robber in both crimes Friday, police said.

She and Oreilly were each arraigned on charges of robbery, conspiracy and theft before they were committed to Lancaster County Prison on $150,000 bail.

No one was injured in either crime.

Police said the weapon was recovered and was determined to be a pellet gun.
