Kids at LCA Create Flea Market to Help Boy Fighting Cancer

Lynchburg, VA - The third grade students at Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg got a real life lesson on economics Friday.

The kids created their own flea market. They made items to sell, like paper crafts or bracelets.

Then the other kids in school would come buy something -- everything was 25 cents apiece.

There were more than 900 items to choose from too!

Teachers at LCA say studying economics is mostly learning definitions and can be hard for kids to get.

So they say a real life application really helps it set in.

"We really are focusing on character at LCA this year and definitely being servants and being givers and any of the money we made was donated to Nathan Norman and his family". The kids are definitely proud of what they've done," said Nicole Griffin, a 3rd grade teacher at LCA.

Griffin says right now they raised $230 and it all goes to Nathan Norman and his family.

Nathan is fighting brain cancer with the spirit of Christmas.
