Bedford Police Announce Five Arrests From 2011 Home Invasion

Bedford, VA - The Bedford Police Chief announced five arrests on Friday in connection to a home invasion over two years ago.

They are charged with a March 2011 home invasion in the 1000 block of Gum Street in Bedford.

The Bedford police chief said they arrested and charged the following people:

Jacqueline Michelle Carson, age 21 of Bedford County. She was charged with: breaking & entering with intent to rape, rob or murder;  robbery; use of a firearm in a felony; wearing a mask in public place.

Audrey Paige Bennett, age 23 of Bedford County, was charged with: robbery; wearing a mask in public place.

Jeffrey Lamar Brown, age 23 of Roanoke, was charged with: breaking & entering with intent to rape, rob or murder, robbery, use of a firearm in a felony; wearing a mask in public place.

Tyler Ashton Mackenzie, age 23 of Roanoke, was charged with: breaking & enter with intent to rape, rob or murder; robbery; use of a firearm in a felony; wearing a mask in public place.

Cantrell Vicsean Griffin, age 21 of Roanoke was charged with: breaking & entering with intent to rape, rob or murder; robbery; use of a firearm in a felony; wearing a mask in public place.

Bennett pleaded guilty.  Mackenzie and Brown are awaiting a trial date.   All five are currently behind bars.

Five arrests made from investigation of home invasion in the Town of Bedford.

On Sunday, March 6, 2011 at approximately 4:00 a.m. a resident of the 1000 block of Gum Street in Bedford contacted the Police Department and reported a robbery.  The Police were advised that several individuals had entered the residence by force and held the occupants at gunpoint while accomplices ransacked the home looking for money.  The suspects left with a quantity of money and were reported to have entered a vehicle and traveled north on Peaks Street. 

One resident was injured and treated at Bedford Memorial Hospital and released.

As a result of a lengthy and determined investigation by investigators with the Bedford Police, five individuals have been arrested.  Arrested were:

Jacqueline Michelle Carson, age 21 of Bedford County.  She was charged with the following felonies:

18.2-90      Breaking & enter with intent to rape, rob or murder;

18.2-58      Robbery;

18.2-53.1   Use of a firearm in a felony;

18.2-422   Wearing mask in public place.

Audrey Paige Bennett, age 23 of Bedford County, was charged with the following felonies:

18.2-58      Robbery;

18.2-422   Wearing mask in public place.

Jeffrey Lamar Brown, age 23 of Roanoke, was charged with the following felonies:

18.2-90      Breaking & enter with intent to rape, rob or murder;

18.2-58      Robbery;

18.2-53.1   Use of a firearm in a felony;

18.2-422   Wearing mask in public place.

Tyler Ashton Mackenzie, age 23 of Roanoke, was charged with the following felonies:

18.2-90      Breaking & enter with intent to rape, rob or murder;

18.2-58      Robbery;

18.2-53.1   Use of a firearm in a felony;

18.2-422   Wearing mask in public place.

Bennett has made a guilty plea.  Mackenzie and Brown are awaiting a trial date.  All individuals are currently incarcerated.
