MOUNTVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Lancaster County man was charged with reckless endangerment after he fired six gunshots while stopped along Route 30 in Mountville, police said.

Steven Michael Neal, 23, of Leola, had pulled over near the Prospect Road overpass after his vehicle became disabled Wednesday night, according to West Hempfield Township police.

He then exited the vehicle and opened fire with an AR-15 .223 caliber rifle into a dirt embankment on the side of the road and in the direction of the Summit Hills housing development, police said.

Six shell casing were recovered in the area of Neal's vehicle, about 100 yards from the housing development, police said.

Officers had investigated a report of shots fired in Summit Hills, but found nothing in the development. East Lampeter police later notified them to check along Route 30, as they had Neal in custody for a separate incident in their township.

All weapons were confiscated from Neal's vehicle and no one was injured, police said.
