M. Pride Wingfield, One of the Original Bedford Boys, Passes Away

Posted:

Bedford, VA - One of the original Bedford Boys has passed away.

M. Pride Wingfield was a part of Company A until 1943 when he became part of the 63rd Division, so he did not go in on D-Day.

Wingfield was actually stationed in England.

While there, Wingfield was a part of the Plymouth Yankees, a baseball team made up of soldiers from the 116th Infantry Regiment. They were good too, with a 33 and 0 record.

Pride Wingfield always took part in the D-Day commemorations.

The 96-year-old was laid to rest Monday afternoon with full military honors.
