Leading Healthcare Technology Company chosen by the Heart Rhythm Society to apply its Extensive Datasets and Analytical Capabilities to Test New Healthcare Quality Measure
BOWIE, Md., Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Inovalon Inc., a leading provider of data-driven healthcare solutions, today announced the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), the international leader in science, education, and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals and patients, has selected Inovalon's MORE2 Registry® dataset and high performance analytics platform to test a new healthcare quality measure.
Inovalon's Statistical Research Team will assist HRS through the combined use of its analytical platform and its Medical Outcomes Research for Effectiveness and Economics Registry (MORE2 Registry®), a comprehensive database containing more than 7 billion healthcare events from over 95 million unique de-identified individuals distributed across the United States. Inovalon will apply its extensive analytic capabilities to validate and test HRS's second cycle development scope of work, "HRS-12: Cardiac tamponade and/or pericardiocentesis following atrial fibrillation ablation." MORE2 Registry data from January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2012 will be utilized in order to generate a time series of physician-level and facility-level scores for the new measure to support the performance gap, validation and reliability testing required to meet National Quality Forum (NQF) acceptance.
"Use of the MORE2 Registry will help the Heart Rhythm Society demonstrate that the HRS-12 quality measure is reliable and valid for the purposes of public reporting and, once in practice, will help to ensure that people living with heart rhythm disorders receive optimum treatment," said Hugh Calkins, MD, FHRS, President of HRS.
"The future of healthcare depends upon our ability to manage, analyze, and leverage big data, like the MORE2 Registry," said Jon Bumbaugh, Senior Director of Research, Development, & Analytics at Inovalon. "We are pleased to partner with the Heart Rhythm Society to develop a valid performance measure and national benchmarks that place physicians in a position to better assess the quality of their own personal standard of care."
