Defend Freedom Tour Stops In Lynchburg

Posted:

Lynchburg, VA - Military veterans are storming the nation by bus, hoping to see some real change. Tuesday night, they're in Lynchburg.

The Defend Freedom bus tour is made a stop at the American Legion Post 16.

The veterans onboard say are here to talk about the impact the government shutdown had on former service members and their families, and the impact that shutdown has on the already massive claims backlog at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The men and women are calling for an overhaul of the V.A. and reform to make it efficient so that veterans aren't waiting years before they ever see the benefits they've earned.

Lynchburg is just one of the cities they'll visit during the three week, stop-and-go tour that will cover a dozen states.

Everywhere the vets go they want to talk to local veterans to get real stories about what's happening once the vets return home, no matter if that was decades or just days ago.

The tour stopped in Harrisonburg earlier Tuesday.

When the bus pulls out it will be on the way to Richmond, where another rally is planned for Wednesday.
