Woman headed to court for burning boy's hands

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Harrisburg woman who allegedly scalded an 8-year-old boy by holding his hands under hot running water is headed to court on felony charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Keisha Moore, 31, waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday morning and allowed the charges to proceed to Dauphin County Court, where she's due for a formal arraignment on December 16.

Prosecutors said Moore told police she was upset with the boy, who was treated in the emergency room of Harrisburg Hospital on July 24 and later flown to the burn center at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

Authorities believe the boy's injuries occurred on the morning of July 23.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean McCormack said the boy required surgery on his hands to prevent further tissue damage.

He said the prognosis is good that the child will recover the full use and motor function of his hands once they fully heal.
