Lancaster police search for suspect in teen's shooting

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 15-year-old girl was shot in the head inside a Lancaster home Wednesday night.

Lancaster police said they responded to the home in the 700 block of E. Fulton Street just after 9 p.m. and immediately began to administer first aid on the girl until medical personnel arrived.

The teen was transported to Lancaster General Hospital, where medical personnel determined that the bullet wound was not life threatening, police said.

She suffered a concussion and was transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for additional treatment. She was reported to be in stable condition, police said.

Investigators are working to identify a suspect, but said there are no indications that the shooting is connected or related to an incident about 15 minutes earlier in the area of Mifflin Street and Stevens Avenue.

A patrol officer in that area heard and located evidence of several gunshots fired, but there is no indication that anyone was struck by the bullets, police said.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call Lancaster police at 717-735-3300 or Lancaster City-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-1913.
