HOLTWOOD, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Columbia man tried to kill a woman by forcing her to take a large number of prescription painkillers, according to state police in Lancaster.

Daniel Grant Werner, 26, is also accused of raping the woman while she was under the influence of the pills, police said in a news release.

Police said Werner forced the woman to take vicodin pills with the intent to kill her.

The incident occurred Friday and Saturday at a home in the 600 block of Drytown Road in Martic Township.

Werner was charged Thursday with attempted homicide, rape, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, and simple assault.

He was arraigned and sent to Lancaster County Prison without bail.
