LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police have identified a 16-year-old boy as the gunman who shot a 15-year-old girl in the head in a Lancaster home Wednesday night.

Manuel "Chucky" Ortiz Jr. was charged Thursday as an adult with aggravated assault and firearms offenses, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest, city police said.

Investigators said Ortiz shot the girl during a domestic incident in a second-floor room of the home in the 700 block of E. Fulton Street just after 9 p.m.

A .38 caliber handgun, believed to have been used in the shooting, was found in the room, police said.

Authorities also found 51 bags of heroin in Ortiz's jacket pocket, which was left at the home when Ortiz fled immediately after the shooting, police said.

He was additionally charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin.

Police previously reported that the girl was transported to Lancaster General Hospital, where medical personnel determined the bullet wound was not life threatening.

She suffered a concussion and was transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for additional treatment.

Anyone with information on Ortiz's whereabouts is asked to call Lancaster police at 717-735-3300.
