Over 100 Runners Take Part in 27th Annual Louie Fields 5K Run

Posted:

Danville, VA - Over 100 people filled Main Street Saturday morning in Danville.

It was all for the 27th Annual Louie Fields 5K Run and Pancake Breakfast. The race was put on by the Danville Area YMCA.

The run was held memory of Louie Fields, who was a dedicated member of the Y and a big time runner.

After the race, runners had some pancakes for breakfast. All the proceeds from the event go toward the Y's youth scholarship fund.

"We don't want any kid, any youth to be deprived of the opportunity to take advantage of what we have here at the Y, so we want to make sure we're in place to be able to financially help them if they need it," said Chris Wilson, Sports and Wellness Director for the Danville Area YMCA.

Organizers raised around $5,000.
