U.S. Forest Service Will Waive Fees for Veterans Day
Roanoke, VA – The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests will waive fees at all day use recreation sites over the Veterans Day holiday weekend November 9-11.
Fees will be waived for all members of the public at all day use fee sites operated by the U.S. Forest Service. A list of local day use areas includes: Bark Camp, Bolar Flat, Brandywine, Cascades, Crabtree Falls, Fortney Branch Boat Launch, and Pound Boat Launch.
The fee waiver days support the goals of President Obama's America's Great Outdoors initiative, which encourages all Americans to connect with the outdoors, and First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move Outside," which encourages children to get out and get active to be healthy.
Salem, VA - Beginning Friday, Aug. 1, a new temporary Park and Ride lot in Christiansburg will open to replace the existing Park and Ride lot off Interstate 81 at exit 118 near Falling Branch Elementary School. More >>
