Lynchburg, VA - Victory for the Republicans for the House seat in the 22nd District. Delegate Kathy Byron is Tuesday night's winner.

In her speech, she thanked all the voters, her family and God.

Byron has spent 14 years in the General Assembly and says she is ready to continue her duty to help the folks in the 22nd District.

"I plan on going back and doing the same thing been doing for 14 years and that's working very hard for my constituents on jobs and economy and those things that they value the most and today's votes show that they are with me," she said.

Byron's day began at 5 a.m. Tuesday. She says she's a bit tired but pumped up over the news.

"I am just so thankful and humbled by the voters of the 22nd district. We ran a very positive issue based campaign and the voters responded with their confidence and their votes. And I am just very thankful!"

Byron says her main focus is on jobs, workforce training and boosting the economy, among other things.

Lynchburg, VA - Republican Delegate Kathy Byron has been re-elected to represent the 22nd District in the Virginia House of Delegates Tuesday.

The incumbent beat her opponent Democrat Katie Webb Cyphert.

Cyphert was Byron's first challenger in 10 years. 

The district covers some of Lynchburg, Campbell County, Bedford County and parts of Franklin County.
