A physical education teacher and cheerleading coach at Tulpehocken High
School has been charged for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old senior.
Nicole E. Kurowski, 27, of Reading, was charged with institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to court documents.
State police in Reading said they investigated a tip that Kurowski had a sexual relationship with the boy during the 2012-2013 school year and recovered
thousands of text messages and dozens of pictures that revealed an indecent relationship existed.
The two met off school property
and after school hours for the purpose of sexual contact and furthering their
relationship, and on a few occasions there was indecent contact between Kurowski and the student during school hours, police said.
Kurowski surrendered to authorities Wednesday and was
released on $25,000 unsecured
