Police search for suspect after woman interrupts burglary

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police in York County say a woman arrived home to find a burglar in her residence. They are still searching for the perpetrator.

On Wednesday at around 10:30 a.m., officials reported to the 100 block of Briggs Circle after receiving a call about a burglary in progress.

A woman came home and found a burglar inside her residence. He fled into a wooded area to the rear of the home.

Officers set up a perimeter, and a K9 with the York County Sheriff's Department was summoned to the scene to assist officers as they searched the woods and cornfields near the area.

The search was unsuccessful and was called off about two hours later. Authorities determined the burglar gained access by forcible entry.

The homeowner was not injured in the incident.

Police said the actor was between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-7; he wore light-colored jeans, a dark sweatshirt, a dark hat and a bandana.

Anyone with information may contact police at 717-741-1259.
