Discussions on the Affordable Care Act in Altavista
Altavista, VA - The Altavista Chamber of Commerce and Enroll Virginia presented an ACA workshop at the train station in Altavista Thursday as an effort to clear up some of the misconceptions about the Affordable Care Act.
Certified Healthcare Navigator Amber Poron talked to folks about their options and the requirements under the new law.
She says these seminars really open people's eyes.
"One very common question is, if I have Medicaid, if I have Medicare, if I have Tricare, do I need to change insurance? Or if I already have a private insurance plan, do I need to do anything? And the answer to that is no. As long as you're covered with insurance, you don't have to do through the federal marketplace, but if you want to, the option is there," said Amber Poron, Healthcare Navigator.
