Nearly 25 percent of the nation's homeless population are veterans, according to the U.S. Interagency Council. A local group is holding a fundraiser to help end that problem.
VFW Post 23 will hold their third annual Homeless Veterans' Awareness campaign Friday from 6 a.m. to Saturday at 3 p.m. For more than 30 hours, the group will live outside like many homeless veterans. They will have sleeping bags, a water bottle and a small portion of food. They will be collecting donations during their time outside.
The public can drop off donations at the locations listed below in Lebanon City:
Fisher's Veterans Park
West Side of 9th Street (Rt 72 N)
East Side of 10th Street (Rt 72 S)
9th and Cumberland Streets
Donations can also be mailed to the VFW Post 23, 718 Chestnut Street, Lebanon, PA 17042 Attn. Homeless Awareness Veterans Campaign.
