Visaggio's owners plan to rebuild from fire

ENOLA, Pa. (WHTM) -

Owners of Visaggio's plan to rebuild the landmark Cumberland County restaurant that was destroyed by fire Sunday night.

The Lumadue/Visaggio family said in a statement Monday that while there is a lot of smoke and water damage to the restaurant on Wertzville Road in Silver Spring Township, they will again serve the community that they love.

The five-alarm blaze brought firefighters from Dauphin, Perry and York counties when it began after 6 p.m. while the business was closed.

The cause has not yet. been determined.

Cumberland County Public Information Officer John Bruetsch said the barn that housed the restaurant was virtually destroyed. He said the building has fire damage to the second floor and fire and water damage to the first floor.

Bruetsch said the kitchen area was also destroyed, while a banquet hall area in the back sustained smoke and water damage but was not destroyed.

Several apartments were also damaged, including two that had residents. The American Red Cross was assisting two people who were displaced.

One firefighter sustained a minor leg injury.
