The Red American Cross has activated its family tracing services in the wake of a powerful typhoon that left as many as 10,000 people dead and nearly a half-million homeless in the Philippines.
The organization said those who are looking for a missing family member in the Philippines should remember that many phones lines are down, and they should continue trying.
Those still unable to reach missing family members may contact their local chapter of
the American Red Cross to initiate a tracing case. In Central
Pennsylvania, the number is 717-234-3101.
Those wishing to make a financial contribution to help the Red Cross relief effort for Typhoon Haiyan and other international disasters may go to www.redcross.org.
