A Middletown man lied to authorities when he told them he was forced to give a ride to a man who threatened him at gunpoint, according to police.
Adam Komanski, 26, admitted to filing a false police report after investigators learned the incident in Silver Spring Township was fabricated, police said Tuesday.
Komanski told authorities he was headed east on Wertzville Road from the Interstate 81 exit when a stranger walked in front of his vehicle shortly before noon Monday.
He said the unknown man then approached his vehicle, told him he needed a ride, then climbed into the back seat behind him and put a gun to his head, according to police.
Komanski reported that he was forced to drive to Perry County and through back roads for some time before the gunman got out of his vehicle, threatened him and walked away, police said.
He will be charged via summons with one count of unsworn falsification and one count of false reports to law enforcement, police said.
